Bridal Shower Dress

I recently bought this dress for my bridal shower next month. I tried it on at the store in a size 12 and was swimming in it, so the sales associate ordered it for me in a 10.
It came on Wednesday and it fits really oddly! There are pockets which bulge which is really unflattering and the bust fits in way that makes me think it still needs to be taken in a tiny bit. When I tried on the 12 I didn't even notice pockets! All in all, its really unflattering and needs alterations (the pockets removed and around the bust). My question is: Do I alter this dress or do I exchange it for the 12 and just have the bust area of the 12 altered? Or, should I completely scrap this dress and buy another? This was on amazing sale, but that isn't really the issue, as it was still over $100 and I want it to be flattering. I also really wanted a pink and green dress because hat's the theme of the shower. I found a great navy (also available in pink) dress at Lilly, which is now my backup. It was $150 and if its marked down again, its mine!

Advice please! :)

Personally, I would get the larger size and just have the bust altered. I've had to do that with several dresses, to make sure the dress is still flattering.

If you love, love, LOVE the dress then I would buy the larger size and just have the bust altered, BUT if you aren't 100% sold on it then I would go back to Lilly, and try on a bunch of pink and green to find a dress that you are head over heels for!

I would only alter the larger dress if you think it's exactly what you want and think it will be the perfect fit. Doesn't sound like you're crazy about the pockets.

Otherwise, I'd scrap it and get one you adore that isn't going to give you so many problems. What does the pink Lilly one look like?

I bought the Lilly Franco seersucker dress in pink and I love it. But, I have tried on other Lilly dresses that haven't fit well. Never bought them.

Bottom line, it has to look good and fit well. Otherwise, you won't be happy.

Let us know what you decide.

I'm not sure...I was on a budget, so I couldn't imagine spending more than $100 on a dress for a shower, including alterations, but I don't know. If you love the dress, then get it altered, if you aren't 100% sure that is it...then I'd say look for something else. :) Good Luck and let us know what you find.

Very bridal indeed! Love it.

I would get the 12 and have it altered. It is easier to take in a dress than to help one that has less fabric to work with. That dress is perfect for the shower!

I wanted to get that dress too but it was huge on the bottom. Also I pictured myself staining the top right away. It is so pretty--I really wanted to love it too. xoxo

Just my opinion (and you KNOW I love me some LILLY) but it doesn't really seem to me that you are all that excited over this dress. You seem kind of indifferent to it. Which really should not be the case for a bridal shower dress! If I am mistaken and you do LOVE it, then by all means alter it and make it perfect (no matter the price) but if you aren't feel'n it anymore...well maybe try to find another fabulous dress that doesn't require as much work to get perfect :)

I always buy the size that fits my largest part (in my case, my hips) and have the bust & waist taken in.

If you absolutely adore the dress otherwise - and it is darling - I'd keep it (and keep the receipt and tags, just in case) & take it to the tailor to get his/her opinion on whether it can be altered to better suit your figure.

alter it, if the cost is reasonable -- if not, then buy another dress, there are so many cute choices out there

That's a shame that it didn't fit correctly, go for the alteration!
Adorable dress!

I'd get the 12.

Get the larger size if you LOVE the dress. If not, try on a bunch of others and find something you won't have to alter.

Honestly, I would find something else. Altering stuff can be such a hassle sometimes - unless you are sure you'll be pleased with the final result, of course! As for the other dress, get it!!

wow that is a hard one! Do what you feel most comfortable in. I wonder since this was your first choice I think it would be better to get the bigger size & have that altered but you could always order the other dress just to see and then return it?

I would get the 12, and then just have it slightly altered, but if you don't absolutely love the dress, then I would find another one! Personally, I think the dress is very cute!

I would get the 12 and alter it. I am having dress fit problems for my shower dress too! The bust is the problem in my situation too so I ordered up (J Crew dress) a size and hope it gets here before next Saturday!
