So I finished the "Magical Leek Soup" diet/detox. I had a great weekend. I relaxed, cleaned a
little bit, watched movies (and the Food network...I don't advise that when only drinking broth and eating leeks), read and generally unwound. I did cave and eat two half sized pretzel rods on Saturday and three on Sunday. Other than that, I was good! The leeks are actually really good warmed up with lemon juice like the author suggests. I lost a few pounds (about 3) and feel energized and ready to get back into the gym. I didn't go this weekend because I didn't think passing out on the elliptical from hunger was a great idea. The soup thing is more about relaxing and reflecting than smacking one's head. Mireille suggests that the reader do this detox once a quarter. I plan to do it again after Thanksgiving. I've also developed an affinity for leeks and plan to make more dishes that include them.
French Women For All Seasons provides several recipes.
Back to the "I've caved" portion of this post's title. I've caved and I'm currently listening to this in my car:
I said I'd never do it, but I am. I've also considered begging my boss to order this poster:
The only hiccup in my plan is that the Twilight series is a "teen" series and I work in the Children's department. I just want to stare at
that hottie from Gryffindor house Robert Pattinson all day. Sue me.

I'm glad your leek/broth weekend worked out for you! What wonderful willpower you must have. I hope you got lots of relaxing in...and I hope your boss lets you get the poster!
That is impressive! I mean the diet, not the caving;-) I love audio books...makes commuting so much easier!
I read Twilight, just the first one but not the series. It was okay. To me, anything that gets kids reading (i.g. Harry Potter) works for me!
So...how much weight did you lose on the diet total? I'm so impressed that you could do it!
I really doubt that I could do that :)
I hope you read the chicken and leeks recipes I posted a while back. Nina Simonds. Let me know if you need it, I will copy and paste and email it to you.
I love leeks too!
I love to put them in quiche - much nicer than onion!
Glad your leek weekend went well!
I've tried that too and it was pretty yummy. xoxo
Ms. Diana Ross will buy it for u i'm sure ;)
100% agreed.
mmm.
i heart edward.
I've done this as well, as a 2-day/weekend detox (try to have it one a quarter). It really does make your body feel refreshed. I am addicted to leeks and have them both raw and cooked now. They are great in salads, omlettes, on salmon. The only thing I suppose I don't put them in is my 0% Fage yogurt!
3 pounds sounds well worth the diet! that is awesome! Twilight has to come into your life at some time!!
I heart Edward.
I LOVE TWILIGHT! Isn't it amazing!? I just finished the 4th book last month. And I don't blame you at all for wanting to stare at Robert Pattinson! He's a hottie!
Way to go!! I might have to give it a try!!!!
xxxxx me
Here's the link to the chicken with leeks recipe. I know I put in a lot of extra chatter, but I think you should be able to find the recipe amongst the blah blah blah:). And the cookbook is great. http://amidlifeofprivilege.blogspot.com/2009/07/food-for-belgium.html
