Sneak Preview

I told you that last night B and I were going to be doing something special. What I didn't tell you is that B won us tickets for a Detroit News sponsored sneak peek to see Julie & Julia! We were invited to attend a strolled reception prior to the 7:00p.m. screening. We had some yummy hors d'oeuvres and received a Julie & Julia apron, recipe card, bottle of Perrier and Julie & Julia themed shopping bag.

The movie was amazing! Meryl Streep blew me away. She is Julia Child! The movie covered more of Julia Child's life than the book, which I loved! I plan to read a biography on her soon. The movie also changed a bit of the book. Julie Powell in the movie was definitely a character based on Julie Powell the author of the book, not exactly like her. Some aspects of her personality and back story changed. I didn't mind the changes. I found the movie to be delightful!

I have some very exciting news to announce regarding this sneak peek! B has offered his "goodie bag" to one of my readers! Please leave a comment on this post for an entry to win the Julie & Julia loot! I will draw a winner next Wednesday. Spread the word!

if i say i'm not from the usa but from the philippines, would you still consider me for the prize?

i just wanted to say that i'm amazed you were able to drag a guy to this ---seeing how it has been labeled as a chick-flick. when it gets shown here in my country, i plan to go with my women friends and we all love food and meryl streep.

I am so envious! I read the book while on vacation in Maine and it was one of the best reads in a very long time! You can use your Perrier with your Jubilee Juice for my Lilly's Ruby Slipper cocktail! (on my blog!)

We enjoyed the movie. Definitely read Julia Child's "My Life in France" as it gives you the whole story, which the movie merely touched on. Happy reading!

I want so badly to see the movie. I wonder if it is anything like the book. I guess I need to get moving and read the book.
