2010 Weddings

Wedding season is quickly approaching, and B and I are attending three this year. One in May, one in June, and one at the end of September. Also, I will be attending at least one bridal shower for my girlfriend who is getting married in September.

When I look at our wedding album, I can't help but notice that so many female guests wore black dresses. There's nothing wrong with the "LBD", but as I grow older, I'm trying to expand my horizons and my wardrobe. I just refuse to wear black to any of these upcoming weddings!

I find that the two Spring/Summer wedding will be easy to figure out. I can wear any of my Lilly dresses, or another pretty teal dress I wore to my own Rehearsal Dinner. However, what does one wear to a late September wedding in Northern Michigan. Oh, and its outside!

Northern Michigan weather can be very tricky that time of year. Also, I'm not sure an outdoor wedding calls for silk, satin, chiffon, and 4 inch heels. Perhaps if it were being held at a more formal resort in the Spring or Summer. So, what do I wear?

I love this J. McLaughlin dress. Is it too casual, even for an outdoor wedding?

I also like this Lilly Pulitzer dress, but I wonder if its too white for a wedding?
This could be a contender?
All in all, I'm at a loss.... maybe this is why most women resort to the LBD?

I do however know that I desperately need this top to go with my new white jeans!
I'm off to Chicago for the weekend! I hope you all enjoy your weekends! See you Monday!

Hmmmm, honestly I think they are all a bit casual unless the wedding is very informal. I definitely love the idea of going away from the black dress but perhaps doing that with a dressier style/fabric but with color!

...but my horse racing loving husband would sure love option #1!

Wow, the little horse dress pretty much blew my mind. So fabulously awesome. You must own it. I agree with you about the LBD option - it's nice to branch out and add a little color to the scene!!

You should check out some of Diane Von Furstenburg's new dresses. I bought a navy one that I think would be stunning on you and perfect for a wedding. I tried really hard when I went shopping last week to not get so much black! I'll post a picture of the dress on my blog soon so you can take a look. The dresses you posted are pretty though! Have an amazing weekend in Chicago!! xoxo

I have that top! Different color, but same top! I just love it! You definitely need it!

I would go with the last dress! I think the horse one might be too casual and the other is too much white. That is quite a conundrum!

I love the horse dress and this it would be alright for the wedding with the right shoes and accessories. No to the white...its white for crying out loud. And im not a fan of the fern dress. But Im more plain and subdued...so ignore my opinion all together! You will be cute even if you wear a brown paper bag!

I like the J McLaughlin dress the best and think it would be perfect. I'm an enabler. :) I would be concerned though about being cold - especially since the wedding will be outdoors in Michigan. Maybe if it is colder you could pair the dress with boots? I agree with you about the LBDs. I think we tend to call on an LBD when we don't know what else to wear!

I have that JM dress, it had to be mine once I saw it! Its awesome, but the colors are MUCH more neon and the dress has a more casual feel in person than it does on-line. I'm happy to e-mail you some pictures of it if you'd like a closer look, just let me know!

I think #3 could work if it is a casual wedding!

I am seriously in love with that
J McLaughlin dress! Even if you don't wear it to a wedding, you have to buy it!

Have a great time in Chicago :)

The J McLaughlin dress is adorable. Very unique. I think it could work for a September wedding. If you're thinking it might be too casual, you should buy it anyway. It's so cute! :)

I actually think that J McLaughlin dress is perfect! I have a number of weddings to go to this summer too and refuse to wear black. Rent the Runway is saving my budget too!

Wow, you found some pretty dresses Miss Princess! The white one looks too white tho', and the J McLaughlin looks like it risks being a bit too casual, unless the wedding itself is in a more relaxed setting...? We're with you on wanting to veer away from the LBD, but it can be hard! You may need to drift over to Somerset and do a bit of hands-on investigating (heh-heh-heh).

Smiles at you!
