November 18
I turn 28 today. When did that happen? This "late-20s" thing kind of snuck up on me. Sneaky thing, age.
My dad put it pretty simply: "There's not much you can do to change it honey." Yes, he is correct. Aging is something we cannot avoid. Why try?
At 28, I can admit that I'm most certainly now an "adult".* I was not a kid who really desperately desired to grow up, I just kind of always was grown up. My dad says that I came out of the womb like that. He jokes, "You were born saying, 'I'll be right with you, I've just got to make a quick phone call.'" So here I am, 28 years old, exactly the same, but very different from my 8 year old self and my 18 year old self. Birthdays to me are like New Year's Eve to many people. I reflect. I take inventory. I set goals. This year, I feel pretty damn good about how things are in my life. I feel pretty good about who I am as a person. So, maybe this year, I'll just enjoy the party! Oh, and eat an amazing dinner!
Finally, I just want to say thank you to The Preppy Princess and The Life of a Suburban Princess for their sweet Birthday cards and wishes! Earlier this week, I wasn't really feeling the "birthday magic". 28, not a really special number. Their thoughtfulness gave me that "magic" I was lacking, and I am so thankful to them both!
Cheers!
