November 9

Is there anything better than looking across a table at your spouse only to be consumed with the overall certainty that you're with the right person? I can write a list a mile long with the reason why I'm thankful for B. He's great! He is kind and loving. He's funny, sweet, reliable and smart. He takes care of me. We take care of each other. But, none of those things could really matter, if we weren't on the same page.

He is the one person in this world with whom I can be completely honest. I'm talking no sugar coating. And, he can be that honest with me. When we talk about our life together and our goals and dreams for the future, I feel such a connection to him. I know that we are unequivocally on the same page, and that gives me more comfort than anything else possibly could. Sometimes I hear him say things, or I observe him doing something, and I am overwhelmed with such a sense of peace with our decision to get married.

I hear people sum marriage up in many ways. Or describe why they got married to their partner. For me, I knew that my life with B would not require a lot of compromise. We just "get" each other in such a way that lots of compromising isn't necessary. We're already there. We know how to compromise, but we rarely have to use the skill. I guess that means that we don't want to change each other. Would I love to change a habit or two of his? Of course! But I don't want to change who he is at his core. I am so thankful for that. It makes this journey of marriage so much easier, but also so much more fun! Because we are on the same page, I feel like we can accomplish anything.
