Bon Voyage Sissy

Tomorrow morning at 8:30 am, my sister will be embarking on the biggest journey of her life. She is moving to China for 6 months! I am a complete basket case of emotions. Mainly, I'm in awe of her. She is doing something very different, taking a chance that I probably never would or could do. I had trouble moving 1.5 hours from home for college for Pete's sake..... She is moving half way around the world! Her biggest fear is that she's going to love it so much that she'll want to stay on longer! I told her that this is her time, and if she loves it, she should stay as long as she wants.

She showed me photos of the Old French Concession neighborhood where she'll be living, and of the apartment she'll be sharing with her very best friend who has been living there almost 4 years. Everything looks and sounds like the writing for a true adventure and growing experience. She will be teaching English and tutoring.

I'm so proud of my sister because she is taking a really big chance. She is exploring the world and also herself. She's testing her limits and leaving her comfort zone. When she was first deciding to go, I think she felt scared to do something on her own. Not in the sense that she will be alone in China, away from our family, but that she isn't following in my footsteps or in anyone else's. She forging her own path. That takes some guts!

We all have a journey in life. I truly believe God has a plan for each human on this earth. Sometimes it's so clear, other times it catches you off guard. And once in a while, you can take a chance and put yourself in a new environment, and it'll all come together in the most amazing way! I doubt my sister ever thought moving to China and living there would fall right into place for her life, at this time, but it has, and I think it'll be just right.

Bon Voyage Sissy....I am so proud of you.
