Though we're far away from Ike, its been pouring here all weekend in Michigan. I've been watching the hurricane coverage, and my thoughts and prayers go out to all of the folks who've felt the effects of Ike.
B is at the Lion's game today with his dad, so I'm home cleaning and watching TV. I'm currently watching Bridezillas, a show I've only seen one or two times before. After about three episodes, I feel compelled to comment on this! First of all, I have to preface by explaining that I spent yesterday wedding gown shopping with my mom and cousin. (I will post more later this week) Perhaps I'm really getting excited about my upcoming wedding and am feeling sentimental after the day of shopping. However excited I am to plan my special day, I'm most excited for the upcoming marriage. The brides on these shows don't really seem to be excited about the marriage at all! I guess to each his own, and if you're really not ready to be married, and decide to do it anyway on national television, hey, its good entertainment, right? Its just SO uncomfortable to watch!!!! The last episode highlighted a bride that treated her groom like her unwanted step child!!!! She was soooo mean to him. Truly made my skin crawl (only I can't bring myself to change the station!). I could go on and on, but I won't. I will just say this: The other bide highlighted in this episode, Brandy (her sister is Mrs. Texas) asked the bakery if they could make her groom's cake to look like a....brace yourselves....vagina!!!!! The sister was shocked to say the least. I had to rewind the DVR because I wasn't sure I'd heard her correctly. I had. She was trying to make the cake "sexy". Like its his last piece of...you know what... Yeah, ok....sexy. This show is insane!
On a different note, B brought home some goodies from work yesterday. I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this, but B works some weekends at a second job. He supervises a jail alternative program in our county. He oversees groups as they do various community service projects. One such project is a community garden where all the produce is donated to local food banks and soup kitchens. Sometimes he is able to bring home some veggies! I took some pics to share. Autumn in Michigan truly is my favorite time of the year!!!
You might notice the one purple bean. We had more of these a few weeks back. They're so cool, they turn green as they cook!
Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. I'm off to watch Coco Chanel on my DVR!

i am so done with the rain! it took me over 6 1/2 hours to get back to chicago, it was the worst trip home ever! detours, flooding, you name it! OMG!!!!
i am glad i am home, your veggies are making me hungry. i thought i heard the lions weren't doing so hot- bummer!!
It's funny that you mention watching Bridezillas and feeling like the emphasis was on the wedding and not the marriage. I have often felt that that is the case is many situations. No wonder the divorce rate here is 50%.
I hope you had a nice weekend!
Bridezillas is like a trainwreck, you just can't stop watching! My mom won't watch it with me because she thinks they're all so horrible - and they are!
Agree with you 100%.. first, that the brides on that show are horrrrible! And, second, that Fall in Michigan is the best :)
Totally forgot to tivo the coco chanel movie and kicking myself for it! I hope they repeat it!
You know, the only times I have ever stumbled onto that show I kind of walk away just stunned, struggling to grasp that was reality television!
The veggies look just wonderful! There is something about fresh from the grower produce that is too wonderful, especially this time of year.
BTW, the new look is fabulous! This is such a great color scheme for people, and you did a great job with it. Woo-hoo!
Hope it is a stellar weekend!
