I'm a wife now?

I've been married a year and a half, and it still sometimes comes as shock to me that I'm a wife. I don't mean that I "forget" I'm married, but being a wife is much more than simply being married. I try to support my husband and do things to make him happy....when it's on my mind. Other times, his feelings aren't really a consideration to me! That is terrible sounding!!! Let me explain. I consider his feelings when I make plans that take me away from him, or make plans for the two of us. I consider his feeling when I get up earlier in the morning and am trying to be very quiet so he can enjoy sleeping in an extra hour.

But when I'm grocery shopping, I sometimes forget that I have this other person living with me! I buy what I want for snacks and lunches, and I always have a list of items needed for dinner meals. I buy him lunch items too, but I'm not really one to think outside the box. I forget that I'm a wife shopping for my little family of two!

Lately, he has been pointing out that "there's nothing to just eat." No snacks for him. Yet, my beloved Blue Chips are always stocked, and when he makes Costco trips he brings me new things to try and always makes sure we have my favorite chocolate covered acai berries (if you've not had them, you MUST!). What, might I ask, is my problemo? Am I that selfish that I just put the same food in the buggy for him each time I go shopping without giving this man a second thought? This thoughtful man that literally lives by the motto "Happy Wife, Happy Life" everyday? He thinks of me from dawn til dusk, and I throw an Easy Mac his way everyday for lunch?

Thing is, I don't know what else to buy the man! And I need help! He isn't picky (some random things, but nothing too serious), but making a sandwich isn't happening at 7:30 am. I'm not going to make it anyway, and neither is he. So what can I buy him for lunch? And what "food just to eat" can I provide him? I need some help. What do you and your husbands/boyfriends/roommates take for lunch? What kinds of snacks do you have lying around the house? If you're a mom, what do your kids love to eat? I can eat the same five things everyday, but my husband is not like that at all! We need variety for him! I'm adopting the motto 'A way to a man's heart is through his stomach", and I need some advice!

Yes, those chocolate covered acai berries are the BEST! I tried the pomegrante ones, not the same!

I always like popcorn as a good snack.. or cookies, and there is always healthy food like veggies and fruits. I love to keep the travel size chips around too.

As far as lunches go what if you made the sandwich the night before and just keep it in the fridge? Or a quick quesadilla that he can reheat later. My bf loves those.

There are always options like the hungry man tv dinners that can be heated in the microwave!

I hope some of this helped!

Good luck!

Believe it or not, feminist, Democrat that I am, I also happen to be quite a good taker-carer of men:). I suggest: a slow cooker to make things like pulled pork, pot roast, and spicy chicken for tacos. I also find that dark greens work, i.e. sauteed spinach, bok choy, and mustard greens. Cook them with a little vinegar and hot sauce or chilis of your choosing, somehow they then don't count as vegetables:).

Mostly when guys say there's nothing to eat they mean there's no cooked protein in the house. Don't you think they ought to come with a dictionary?

I do the same thing...but my husband needs to lose weight so I try not to have anything he would snack on in the house. I do come home with everything *I* need tho lol!

Your chocolates...are they the Brookside ones?

DUDE!!!! Two words: SLOW COOKER!!! Every Sunday, we make lunch for the week. Sometimes it is red beans and rice, other times it is stuffed peppers. This week we did a corned beef brisket in the slow cooker. I mean, literally! You put it in there, go about your day and in 10-12 hours, you have dinner for three days! We enjoyed it as dinner, we used it in sandwiches.

I picked up a Crock Pot cookbook from Costco last year and I still make all kinds of wonderful dishes all the time with it. That is the thing to do. No fuss, no muss! Email me if you want more info.
