It's so hot. All over the country. Today in Michigan we're breaking records with this heat. personally, I don't really mind it. I have AC, the library where I work is like an igloo, and my car cools down very quickly. However, it's a little tough to dress for this weather and still look prefer, not to mention keeping "warm" indoors and not melting outdoors!
I've never used Polyvore, so I thought I'd give it a try today to create The "Cool" Librarian. Here is essentially what I'm wearing today, and is the basis for my work uniform in this hot weather. I couldn't find the Land's End Canvas dress I'm actually wearing, so I substituted a really darling dress with a Peter Pan collar.
You'll notice I tend to wear very minimal jewelry in this heat: wedding rings, watch, earrings. Nothing sticking to me! Also, I like to wear my long hair up in this weather. Those little Goody bun coils are amazing and really easy to use! I might not even bother wearing the cardigan, yet it's good to have in case the AC starts blasting! I like neutral colors on hot days also, and a breezy cut to my dress. Nothing too tight or with too thick fabric.
What is your Summer uniform? Do you find it hard to still look professional while staying "cool"? Lucky for me, I work in a atmosphere that doesn't require I wear a suit! I can be more creative.
